Dr. Klein was given a 2002 Community Teaching Award by the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians.

He is a competitive masters swimmer.  He is part of a 4-man team that set a World Record in the 200m medley relay in March 2007.  He also holds several national & state masters records.
